概要

量子重力理論の探究は、現代理論物理学におけるもっとも重要かつ魅力的な問題の一つです。私たちの量子重力の理論は未完成である一方、この数十年で大きな成果が達成されています。量子重力理論は端的に言えば共変的アプローチと正準的アプローチの二つに分けられます。前者では場の量子論の構築を通してアインシュタイン重力を拡張、多くの理論が生まれました。後者では、運動学的なヒルベルト空間の非摂動論的な構築で成果を出しています。

 

本書は全6巻で構成され、「有効量子重力」、「摂動量子重力」、「漸近的に安全な量子重力」、「非局所量子重力」、「超重力」、「弦理論」、「因果集合」、「因果力学的単体分割」、「ループ量子重力理論とスピンフォーム」の9部を通し、量子重力理論を発展させて主要な手法の最新動向を示します。従来の物理学の観点では、量子重力理論は有効な量子重力効果を直接観測することが現時点では困難であり、すぐには理論を実証できない点が課題です。一方で、量子重力分野の研究は、標準模型の基盤をなすゲージ場の量子理論の発展に大きな貢献をしています。したがって、この領域で蓄積された研究は価値があるという考えを元に、量子重力理論の様々な側面と現存する主要なアプローチへの総説を示すため本書は刊行されました。
